I intended to post this awhile back….

Like Bob Rumson in The American President, the Tea-Party has a problem.  That problem isn’t that they don’t ‘get it’, it’s that they can’t sell it!

As the fictional president ‘Andrew Shepherd’ said, “We have serious problems to solve, and we need serious people to solve them. And whatever your particular problem is, I can promise you that the leaders of The Tea Party are not the least bit interested in solving it.

“They are interested in two things and two things only: making you afraid of it and telling you who’s to blame for it…and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you win elections.

“You gather a group of middle-aged, middle-class, middle-income voters who remember with longing an easier time, and you talk to them about family and American values and character.”

And wave a photo of a black American President and scream about patriotism and tell them he’s to blame for their lot in life, and you go on television and question his citizenship.

Then you hold up a picture of his wife and call her a racist and an angry black woman’.

Is this old news?

Not really. Not when we’re lambasted with the same kind of  malicious rhetoric every week by people more interested in the publicity they gain for the noise they make than solving real problems for which the only solution they seem to have is debtors prisons and ‘let them eat cake.’
